How Many Foreigners Currently Reside in Japan?
In recent years, the number of foreign residents in Japan has increased significantly. At the end of 2015, there were approximately 2.16 million foreign residents, and as of the end of June 2024, this number has reached about 3,588,956, marking an increase of approximately 1.66 times.
The increase in foreign residents is particularly noticeable among those with work-related visas, such as technical interns and specified skilled workers. While the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily reduced these numbers, they have since rebounded. In terms of nationality, the majority of foreign residents in Japan come from China, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, and Brazil, and they are spread across the country.
Why Did I Start This Blog?
Despite the increasing number of foreign residents, information about life in Japan is still not well-organized, and language barriers often make it difficult for newcomers to access essential information. That is why I created this blog—to help foreigners live more comfortably and securely in Japan.
Currently, I only speak Japanese, but by using AI to translate my articles, I aim to provide useful information in multiple languages. Through this process, I also hope to learn and grow alongside my readers. This blog is designed to be a space for mutual learning and exchange.
